A true pioneer in both the state of NJ and internationally, Dr. James Lee has made his mark on the field of orthopaedic surgery. From his kind, affable nature to his various accomplishments, Dr. Lee has distinguished himself as a premier physician. In 1973, Dr. Lee was one of the first surgeons in the history of NJ to begin practicing arthroscopic surgery. Thousands of surgeries later, he has perfected his technique and is able to perform a vast array of arthroscopic procedures including:

In addition to the evolution of his practice of sports medicine, his expertise in joint replacement evolved. This leader's longest primary total joint replacement has lasted thirty-three years and the patient is 102 years old! He continues to perform high volumes of total knee and hip replacements.
A recent inductee into the Newark Sports Hall of Fame in October of 2007, Dr. Lee was recognized for creating the first comprehensive sports medicine clinic that serviced high school athletes in Newark and Oranges. Through his expertise and continuing contribution to the betterment of local high school sports heroes, this pioneer was inducted along with many of Newark's finest athletes. Dr. Lee continues to work with athletes, athletic programs, and trainers at East Orange campus, Orange High School, Barringer, Shabazz, and Columbia High School.
In addition to offering his time and experience to his community, Dr. Lee has contributed and still contributes to the education of orthopaedic residents and medical students. Dr. Lee has served as faculty for the UMDNJ-Newark residents for over 30 years and has been crucial in exposing these young physicians to complexed sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. Today, he continues to hold his position as a clinical faculty member.
